Chargebacks

See each chargeback and the reason for it.

The chargebacks report lists every disputed card payment with the reason it was submitted, so you can see what each dispute is about.

  • The reason

Each chargeback carries the reason it was submitted, so you can see what the dispute is about.

  • The payment

Review the card payment itself in your card transactions, with its date, amount and status.

Sample data: a $149 chargeback on a creator membership paid by card, with its reason: not recognized.

Refunds and voids

Refund or void an eligible payment.

A void cancels a payment before it settles; a refund returns money after it has. Both start from your transaction views, for eligible payments.

  • Card payments

Void or refund an eligible card payment from the card transactions view.

  • ACH payments

Void an eligible ACH payment from the ACH transactions view, by its status.

Sample data: a paid $299 card payment with the refund action an eligible transaction shows.

Each one lowers net revenue, and each one shows in a place of its own.

  • A refund

You issue it from an eligible card transaction, and it counts in your analytics.

  • A chargeback

The cardholder disputes a card payment; the report shows it with its reason.

  • An ACH return

A bank payment comes back, and the return is recorded in your bank activity.

Good questions. Clear answers.

Chargeback questions.

What is a chargeback?

A chargeback is a card payment that is reversed after the cardholder disputes it with their bank. In SU Payments, the chargebacks report lists each one with the reason it was submitted.

What is the difference between a void and a refund?

In general, a void cancels a payment before it settles, so no money moves, while a refund returns money after a payment has settled. Which one you can use depends on each transaction’s eligibility and status.

Can I refund or void a payment?

Yes, when the transaction is eligible. The card transactions view lets you void or refund eligible card payments, and the ACH transactions view lets you void eligible ACH payments. What you can do depends on each transaction’s eligibility and status.

How is a refund different from a chargeback?

You issue a refund yourself, from an eligible card transaction. A chargeback starts with the cardholder, who disputes a card payment with their bank; it shows in your chargebacks report with its reason.

Do chargebacks show in my analytics?

Yes. Analytics follow refunds and chargebacks, and net revenue is shown after refunds, disputes and ACH returns.

Is an ACH return a chargeback?

No. An ACH return is a bank payment that comes back, recorded in your bank activity. A chargeback is a disputed card payment.
